Sueños is the name of bassist Steven Hashimoto's new Latin jazz band. Made up of Joe Sonnefeldt, steel drums/percussion; Mike Levin, woodwinds; Leandro Lopez-Varady, keyboards; Heath Chappell, drums; and Hashimoto on bass. Suenos combines jazz improvisation with Latin and Caribbean rhythms: Salsa, Samba, Bossa-Nova, Mambo, Soca, Calypso and Reggae. A repertoire comprised of jazz tunes, Latin standards, originals and American pop music makes for an audience-pleasing experience, either for listening or dancing. Sueños has performed at The Green Mill, Bossa Nova, La Perla, The Bulls, Green Dolphin Street, Pete Miller's, Andy's, Museum of Contemporary Art, The Art Institute and Club Synergy (where we opened for The Brecker Brothers).
